Latest Improvements and Fixes

3.01.2557 of ShowShifter includes the following fixes and features:

• Composite and s-video channels are correctly discovered on autotune.
• Composite and s-video channels can be added on VIVO cards.
• Playback problems (slow playback, fast playback, error message) with MPEG2 files have been resolved.
• SSF to AVI conversion is working for both V2 and V3 SSF files.
• The problem where V2 SSF files wouldn't skip or play past 7 minutes has been resolved.
• Auto-recompression of MPEG2 files has been disabled as the feature is not yet available.
• New dynamic Aspect Ratio Manager (dARM) is only applied to digital TV viewing and MPEG2 playback. The old aspect ratio mechanism is applied to analog TV viewing and non-MPEG2 file playback.
• dARM has two new modes, 'AutoMode' and 'AutoMode Letterbox' which are analogous to the modes a digital TV set top box provides. If one of the auto modes is used, ShowShifter will autodetect the aspect ratio information embedded in the MPEG2 stream and change the display accordingly. The default setting for new installations is 'AutoMode'. If the old aspect ratio mechanism is used (see point above) it will treat these modes as the previous 'Keep Original Source Aspect', although the mode has been renamed to 'AutoMode'.
• Efficiency of DivX encoding has been improved - full frame DivX is now in the reach of high end users.
• The speed of directory browsing has been increased, especially for those with mapped network drives.
• Duplicate file detection has been improved when renaming or deleting recordings.
• Touch screen support has changed - only the bottom left corner of the TV/Video/DVD/Visualisation display now toggles menu mode.
• Channel changing with the mouse wheel has been improved so that it will cycle through channels whether the 'now and next' display is visible or not.

If you have version 3.00.2482 or 3.00.2489 of ShowShifter, 3.00.2511 of ShowShifter includes a few useful fixes, as follows:

• DVB - satellite channels on vertically polarised transponders can now be received.
• DVB - improvements have been made to autotune to correct table decoding and PMT decoding.
• DVB - Euro1080 HDTV channel support has been added. Currently this has only been tested with TechnoTrend Budget and Hauppauge Nova-S cards.
• Corrections have been made to the MPEG writer - previous symptons were:
  • Audio decoder would refuse to connect
  • Audio would play back too quickly or slowly
  Unfortunatley, files created with previous versions of 3 will still play incorrectly.
• Issues causing the poor performance of AVI file playback have been resolved.
• SSF files creates with older versions of ShowShifter will now play correctly.
• OpenDML 2.0 support has been temporarily replaced with multi-part AVI files. This resolves recording issues for those with NTFS file systems. It will be re-enabled in due course.
