Webshifter, contributed by G@rfield
It's a new way of remotely scheduling things in ShowShifter. You simply run the server application on the machine with SS on it and then use an internet browser from another machine to connect to it and schedule stuff. It's actually really quite good! You can download the webshifter application from http://www.iwg.nl/webshifter/
ShowSet.exe, contributed by Debugger.
This program provides a command line interface to ShowShifter that allows VideoServer commands to be passed to set/remove Recordings, set/remove timed channel changes, and to perform immediate channel changes. For example, a recording can be set with a command as simple as:
ShowSet.exe /SR=Channel 5::2002-08-11 19:00::30::Channel 4 News.

This setup includes an 'undo' option which returns ShowShifter 2.10 to the Purple skin. Please make sure you close ShowShifter before running the skin pack.
Note: This version is for 2.10 only. Older skin packs will cause the latest ShowShifter to function incorrectly, so please download this latest one if you would like to change the skin on version 2.10.

We are pleased to release the ShowShifter Skin editor. With this UIS editor you can now create your own look for ShowShifter by changing the layout and graphics you would like to use. The ShowShifter Skin Editor is available from http://www.inventv.com/download/UISEditor.zip

REMOTE CONTROL
IRBlaster Controller, contributed by Richard Gate.
Richard has created a small utility that lets you change channels on an external device using the IRBlaster on a Hauppauge PVR150 TV card. If you have one of these cards and you would like to change channels on an external receiver box, then this might be just the ticket! Here is where you can get it: http://www.disco-nt.co.uk/download/.

HE Remote software is used to control the following infrared remotes: ActiSys 200L; the IRdeo; the PC to IR Linc; or the Spitfire to control Home Entertainment Equipment. You can download the program from http://www.tvscheduler.net/HERemoteV1.19Setup.exe.
RedRat Control for RedRat3, written by the RedRat Team.
This utility makes using the latest RedRat3 with ShowShifter much easier. With the RedRat3 you can tell your digital TV box (including Sky or Telewest/NTL) to change channels when you change channel in ShowShifter.
You will need the IR Signal DB Utility and RedRat Control utility, both of which can be downloaded from their website at http://www.redrat.co.uk/Software/RedRatControl
For full ShowShifter instructions, please visit http://www.redrat.co.uk/Software/RedRatControl

For information on how to setup the ACTiSYS IR200L or RedRat2 as a transmitter,
see IR Transmitter Instructions
irTuner.dll, contributed by Werner Lane.
This can be used to replace the irTuner.dll that comes with John Vanderbeck's plug-in for the ACTiSYS IR200L or RedRat2 transmitter. It enables further customisation of commands sent by the IR200L or RedRat2.
You can download this open source project from http://mywebpage.netscape.com/wlopensource/
SSGirderTuner, contributed by Mythtook
This utility replaces the irtuner.dll that comes with John Vanderbeck's plug-in for the ACTiSYS IR200L or RedRat2 transmitter, and turns channel changes into Girder events.

Marmitek/X10 remote control drivers
If you have a 'PC Control' from Marmitek or a 'Mouse Remote Model UR86A' from X10, they may require you to install ShowShifter version 1.55 in order to install the drivers. If you already have a newer version of ShowShifter installed, this setup will allow you to only install the drivers and leave your ShowShifter install unaffected.
The setup can be downloaded from http://www.inventv.com/download/X10Setup.exe
USEFUL SCRIPTS
OfflineRecompress.pl, contributed by Werner Lane. This script allows you to re-compress shows recorded by ShowShifter using VirtualDub. This way you can use VirtualDub to apply noise filters, crop video amongst other advance processing techniques.
You can download this open source project from http://mywebpage.netscape.com/wlopensource
Various scripts, contributed by Lusid1
You'll need VirtualDub, TmpgEnc, and Vdubs' frameserver all working together to get started with these scripts
- MakeAVS.zip - This script creates AVISynth files for SS AVI formatted recordings (Requires AVISynth v.3)
- showsaver.zip - This script can be used to save showshifted video in either an automated or on-demand mode. Normally showshifted files are deleted by showshifter, sometimes you might want to keep them.
- VdubSSF.zip - This script automates the process of appending ss avi files together in virtualdub.
- ssscripts.zip - This collection of scripts allows you to implement a recompression server. They run outside of showshifter, for example on a network server. They are capable of producing (s)VCD and DVD ready mpeg files from SS AVI recordings.
All these can be downloaded from http://www.lusid.net/showshifter
SSClean
This utility will clean your machine of all traces of ShowShifter.
We use it to simulate a clean install. It is UNSUPPORTED, so use it
at your own risk. It removes ShowShifter and all associated registry
settings, so any timed recordings or compression profiles you created
using ShowShifter will be lost. It removes the PICVideo MJPEG codecs
as well. It also removes Conducent and all associated registry settings.
Conducent is the software that used to display adverts in ShowShifter,
so check that other software on your PC isn't using it. The 'video'
and 'music' directories will remain untouched so you won't lose any
video or music files. Don't worry if you get "loadlibrary failed"
type errors when you run it, it just means it is being extra thorough.
You will need shfolder.dll (which comes with Windows 2000 or Internet
Explorer 5 and up) to run this utility.
Download SSClean (35 Kb) from http://www.inventv.com/download/SSClean.zip

This section contains third party products which you may find useful. Although we provide these links, Home Media Networks cannot support or provide any form of warranty for products produced by third party vendors.
ID3Lib LGPL'd open-source ID3 parsing library
We have found that any Windows Media Player older than version 8 does not parse ID3 tags properly. This results in track numbers not appearing correctly. However, this problem only applies to anyone not running XP on their machine.
We have extended ShowShifter to take advantage of ID3Lib when it is found on the system. ID3Lib's parsing capabilities are very solid and reliable. It is an open source, freely available library which you can download from the website http://id3lib.sourceforge.net/
To take advantage of ID3Lib, complete these instructions:
- Download the file ID3Lib-3.8.0pre2-ShowShifter.zip
- Unzip the file ID3Lib-3.8.0pre2-ShowShifter.zip
- Put the extracted ID3Lib.dll in the same folder as ShowShifter.exe (usually c:\Program Files\Home Media Networks Limited\ShowShifter)
- Exit ShowShifter, if it is running.
- Delete the database files 'MediaServer.fdb' and 'MediaServer.fdb.dat' in the 'Data' sub folder (usually c:\Program Files\Home Media Networks Limited\ShowShifter\Data)
- Restart ShowShifter, go into the JukeBox and do a rescan.
If you want to compile your own dll or make modifications, then here is the source that was used to compile the dll:
