Controlling DirecTV satellite receiver boxes through a Serial cable
This command line utility allows you to send commands to the box through the serial cable. Please note that this utility only supports DirecTV boxes.
You can change channel on your DirecTV box when you change channel in ShowShifter by runnning an external program every time the channel is changed.
The command line utility that you need has been created by http://www.dtvcontrol.com
To use this program please follow these instructions:
- Download the Serial Control Utility.
- Download the Command Line Utility.
Note: The serial control utility must be running for the command line utility to work. This allows you to manually work the direcTV box without locking up the serial port when ShowShifter needs it.
- Run the Serial Control Utility.
- Set the COM port and test channel changing there.
- In Showshifter, go to the channel settings page and in the 'Command' field for each channel, type in the full path to dtvcmd.exe (with an option of #nnn where nnn is the channel number).
Make sure you select which input the channel is viewable on (for example, S-Video)
Sample: c:\dtvcon\dtvcmd.exe #382.
Note: You must include the .exe extension.
Remember, the Serial Control Utility must be running for the Command Line Utility to work.
